Influenza (flu) vs. COVID-19
Flu (influenza) is a contagious respiratory illness. Many flu symptoms are similar to Coronavirus (COVID-19), but they are caused by different viruses. You can protect yourself from both by getting a flu shot and your COVID-19 vaccine.
Your flu shot will help prevent illnesses and hospital visits
It can help keep you from getting the flu, and from passing the flu on to people around you. That means fewer trips to the doctor or hospital.
-
7.5 million flu illnesses*
The vaccine helps reduce the number of flu-related visits to the doctor by 40%–60%.
-
105,000 flu-related hospitalizations*
If you still get the flu after being vaccinated, your flu shot may make your symptoms milder.
